Roanoke College tries to alleviate the stress of finals by having a bi-annual “Carnival Day” at the Commons, complete with Coney Island style hot dogs and cotton candy. Our tuition money also pays for a slew of free arcade games, which pretty much remain until it’s time for break.
I held the high score in Galaga at 613310 after only 45 minutes worth of play just before the end of the spring semester.
The claw machine is heaven-sent. You could spend three hours standing there trying to get that goddamn elephant stuffed animal. You’ve tried 14 times already and the only reason you haven’t quit is because you want to impress the people who have now stopped eating to watch you. You don’t even want the stupid thing.
Anyway, we had a carnival day before the end of the spring semester, and it reminded me of a post I made in my myspace blog early in December before the end of the fall semester. I went to get food that day and as I sat down at the table, I noticed that they had a pinball machine. Guess what the machine was based on.

That’s right. Demolition Man. The 1993 dystopic cult film starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes that few people have actually heard of. If you haven’t heard of it, don’t worry. You didn’t miss much.
Anyway, I re-discovered the photos from my mobile phone and was just looking up the wikipedia page for Demolition Man when I found out that the pinball machine has its own entry.

Let me repeat that:
The pinball machine has its own wikipedia page.

Apparently, there is also an Internet Pinball Database. Awesome.
