NaNoWriMo ‘09 Update: November 2
This is my first attempt at National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Well, I’m off to a good start. Yesterday I played four hours of Tri-Peaks Solitaire and wrote nothing. I did, however, have a decent idea in the shower.
I decided that, in the spirit of re-working older novels, like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I would write Atlas Shrugged from an alternate universe where Ayn Rand was a Marxist.
I have the library’s only copy of the book checked out, and it’s not due until December `1st, the day after NaNoWriMo ends. In good shape so far.
This morning I started writing in my Values class, ignoring the lecture about Aristotle’s views on human nature and shit like that.
My opening line is as follows:
“Fuck John Galt, and fuck you too!”
Compared to the real first line of the novel:
“Who is John Galt?”
I think I’m already on Ron Paul’s list of enemies. You know he has one, don’t even lie.
